At Academy’s homes we’re awaiting your tour and anxious to receive your loved one with open arms.
In many ways our 4 homes are very much alike, with similarities like licensed and frequently inspected houses, quiet neighborhoods, great meals and good friends. Most importantly, the homes are staffed by vigilant caregivers on constant alert for signs of physical and cognitive changes in our residents that might signal the need for medical attention.
Easily the most popular of the similarities, however, is the fun—an aspect cherished by residents and staffs alike, ranking as a vital ingredient in the atmosphere that we strive to achieve. Birthdays and other celebrations are frequent, lighthearted “hair and nails days” are regular, music and TV shows of the appropriate era are commonplace, and lively conversations are constant. And then come enough extra-special events to cover a calendar, like the tailgate-style menus for Saints games and traditional feasts and decorations for annual observances like Mother’s Day, Valentine’s and Easter. Actually, most every day that has a name gets a celebration, and every celebration brings true excitement. Every time, at every house.
And yet, despite all the similarities, each house maintains its individuality—a personality of its own. We hope you’ll tour them all and perceive those differences as you go.
THE ACADEMY HOUSE
Like all four locations, our Academy Drive residence boasts a central spot that’s quick and easy to reach from all parts of New Orleans Metro (and from entry points like Interstate 10, the airport, the river bridges and Lake Pontchartrain Causeway). The nearby lake, incidentally, provides Academy House with pleasant year-round breezes, which you’re likely to notice when you arrive at the home’s front walkway and columned entrance.

THE HARVARD HOUSE
The newest and largest Academy Houses facility faces Harvard Avenue from across a wonderfully deep front yard, but arriving or departing with a your loved one is easy thanks to a non-public lane that leads alongside the property to convenient parking at the entrance.

THE LAKE VILLA HOUSE
A huge and beautiful live oak tree shades the wide stone driveway that glides up a gentle rise to our Lake Villa Drive home, and, from that level and safe parking space, a walkway leads a few steps, passing inset garden spots, to the entrance.

THE SCHOUEST HOUSE
Our Schouest Street residence greets you with a handsome stone walkway that curves up from the street to a welcoming brick porch, surrounded by miniature flower gardens. You might like to pause there awhile, before your tour, to have a seat and consider what a perfect conversation spot that porch would make for future visits with your loved one.
